GUEST BOOK

Kathy, your Mom taught me in the 8th grade at Twiggs Co. High, Jeffersonville, GA along with Miss Lois Hill and I appreciate it so much. Mrs. Myers was a beautiful lady and loved her 'Kathy'. I had a green ink pen that she loved and everyday, she'd say, 'Virginia, please let me borrow your ink pen'...needless to say, I treasure this and Mrs. Myers. May God bless you. Kathy and family, Thinking of you and your family at this most sorrowful time. She was absolutely the sweetest, most beautiful and classic lady that I have ever known...Aunt Dorothy!

- Ted Dimsdale, Jacksonville, FL

Kathy, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your mom was the sweetest. It was great being neighbors for so long. Remember that God is in Control.

- Diane Towles Cooper, Cochran, GA

I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Myers in the 7th and 8th grade for English in Cochran. I learned a lot more than grammar, sentence structure and verb conjugation from her. She made you want to be the best student and best version of yourself. After my parents, she is without doubt, the most influential teacher from whom I ever learned something. I want to thank her for the experience of being her student. Beyond her talent as a teacher she was a wonderful person to be around.

- Jack Douglas Shepherd Jr, Milledgeville, GA

Mrs Myers was the best English teacher I had at the junior high school in Cochran, GA. Mrs. Myers was knowledgeable, caring, and persistent in her quest to teach us English. She was strict and expected us to do the assigned work.I learned more in her classes than I did later on in high school and college. Mrs. Myers was a great inspiration to us all.

- Denise Shepherd, Milledgeville, GA

Kathy, I am sorry for your and your family’s loss. Your mother was very special to me. She demonstrated courage, integrity, caring and wisdom in her personal and professional life. I remember the first time I saw your mother, and the last. I remember many times in between. But my most lasting memory of your mother and the lesson she taught occurred when I was in the eighth grade. My friends and I liked to eat in her class. My friends got caught many times and received corrective measures equally. Me, I never got caught or corrected in class. Then I received my report card. When I looked at my conduct grade I noticed it was a U, and beside it she wrote: “Eats in class'. She never mentioned it. And I never ate in class again. In that brief moment in time, your mother taught me a valuable life lesson: to influence someone the most do so when it is expected the least. Mrs. Myers will be missed but her memory lives on in those of us she touched. And influenced

Many of us who were privileged to teach at Richmond Hill School in the 70's-80's were equally privileged to know and work with Dot Myers. 'Dot' single-handedly ran the English department--diagram some sentences, anyone?--and then, as now, there wasn't a coworker, parent, or student alike who didn't realize they were certainly in the presence of a powerful, one-of-a-kind force. Dot was a super teacher---extremely knowledgeable, quick-witted, master disciplinarian, and very much respected. Dot was, needless to say, a super friend, a real class act, a true lady of the South. We were and are all better people for having known her. Sadly missed but never forgotten.

- Colleen Cassiday, Savannah, GA

It was a pleasure and honor to have worked with Dot Myers during our time at Richmond Hill School back in the 70's and 80's when we were a K-12 school. I will always have fond memories of her. She is not a person anyone would ever forget because she was such a fine lady. You were blessed to have her in your family. My deepest sympathy, Dahlia Rahn Hood

- Dahlia Hood, Richmond Hill, GA

My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Myers' family. She was one of the most wonderful, inspiring teachers I have ever had. Even though I was always scared she would knock me in the head with her yardstick, she knew how to capture your attention and motivate you to learn, as well as to bring your best to the table. She demanded that we give our all, so we did. She was truly a one-of-a-kind and I loved her dearly. May your hearts take comfort in knowing she was so beloved and touched so many lives in such a positive way. A true role model. My prayers for comfort to all her family who I know will miss her dearly ,as we all will. Melissa Clark Dunwody Class of 81

I remember reading 'Twelve Angry Men' and 'Julius Caesar' {sic} aloud in Mrs. Myers' 7th grade English class the first year the 'new school' on Harris Trail opened.
